SPI Group acquires Spanish wine estate

The SPI Group has bolstered its vineyard portfolio with the acquisition of the Arinzano Winery in north east Spain, which will form part of its new luxury wine division, HEW Holding BV.

Founded by in 1997 by Yuri Shefler, SPI Group is the owner of global vodka brands such as the iconic Stolichnaya Premium vodka range, elit and Moskovskaya, but has in recent years made moves to branch out the world of wine.
The Luxembourg-based group’s wine division already includes Argentina’s Achaval Ferrer from Mendoza and the Italian estates of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia, Castelgiocondo and Luce della Vite – which represent a joint-venture with Marchesi de’Frescobaldi and Californian wine producer Michael Mondavi.
Its latest acquisition, the Arinzano Estate, is situated in the north east of Spain and produces pago certified wines. The estate has produced wines since the 11th century, when nobleman Sancho Fortuñones de Arínzano first produced wines on the property.
