In the year that celebrates 170 years of winemaking heritage, Penfolds will host complimentary wine ‘health checks’ across five Australian cities, from August to October, offering an exclusive after-sales service for owners of Penfolds red wines, aged 15 years or older.

A unique proposal in the world of wine, Re-corking Clinics allow collectors and punters alike the opportunity to, as required, open and visually inspect their wine, assess the quality, top up, certify, and re-capsule their prized bottles, prolonging the life of the wines. Penfolds has been providing the Re-corking Clinic service to collectors around the world for over 20 years, with over 120,000 bottles being re-corked since 1991. Wine owners must make a booking for the clinic in their state, where the Penfolds winemaking team will be on-hand to assess each registered bottle.

 “We anticipate seeing many rare and interesting wines come through the doors from around the country,” says Penfolds Chief Winemaker, Peter Gago. “From our flagship Grange through to the classic Koonunga Hill reds from the 1970’s, each bottle has a tale to tell. We look forward to catching up with old friends, making new ones and advising collectors about their prized collection.”

In addition to the wine assessment, a Clinic appointment allows the opportunity to meet with a Penfolds winemaker to recount the wine’s story, discuss drinking windows and cellaring recommendations. All bottles that are re-corked will be certified and signed by the winemaker, before being valued by leading Australian fine wine auction house, Langtons.
