The young CEO of "Aigua de Sant Aniol" said that at age 28 it took five months to sell the first bottle of wine on behalf of the importer in Singapore for which he worked. This despite making a remarkable effort. (See LaVanguardia)
In a recent comment I explained a similar experience in that a seller in 3 months had not been able to sell a single box of cava:
"Your comments respond to the common sense and empathy that business and commercials are supposed to have.
Unfortunately still many wineries think they can sell as before
Regarding the issue of the uselessness of the mailings I absolutely agree and some of it is reflected in information that I made a long time ago with the title of " Selling is throwing messages in a bottle to the sea? How to promote your orduct and your compay (wine and food) "
I also agree that it is the positioning and the total attitude of the company the most important aspect and that will allow the commercials to carry out their work in a positive way. Years ago a wine cellar complained that his commercial was useless and that in three months had not managed to sell a single box. The truth is that watching the company, image and tagged was not surprising. To this day there is no such cellar.
One relevant aspect that you have not mentioned is the knowledge that the companies do not end up at the door of his warehouse and that the maps of points of sale with geolocation facilitate the purchase to the potential end consumers and allow to create confidence in other points of sale / Distributors who will also feel supported being also a good quality filter to select new products"
